Print specialists YR Store, who have brought their snazzy design-your-own print machines to retailers across the capital over the past year, are now collaborating with Selfridges. Their stint coincides with the retailer’s six-week SS14 project ‘Board Games,’ which celebrates skate and surf from a high fashion perspective.
The temporary YR Store is located on the lower ground of Selfridges. Here customers can pop in and use interactive touchscreens to design their own garments in store, and then see their creations printed off within minutes. It’s like stepping into the future. You’ll mainly find retro beach and summer inspired samples, but you can choose from designs based on everything from religion and cars to food and wild animals. Pick your own colour, pattern and messaging to ensure you take home a one-of-a-kind creation.
Garment choices include a single side printed T-shirt for £35, double side printed T-shirt for £45 (the most popular choice, we’re told) or a sweatshirt for £55. Staff are on hand to offer advice and explain the options this technology has to offer.
