Posted at 5:20 pm, March 20, 2014 in Music & Nightlife

Here’s your weekly update on the biggest and best shows announced since Monday. It’s been a busy week, and we’ve got everything from international pop royalty Kylie Minogue to harsh Canadian punks Fucked Up on our weekly ‘just announced’ list. Here’s what you should be booking tickets for tomorrow morning…

Kylie Minogue

 KYLIE

Ms Minogue returns in all her ever-smiling, costume-changing, high-gloss pop glory to promote her poptastic new record ‘Kiss Me Once’. This’ll be a popstravaganza of immense proportions: don’t miss out.

Somerset House Summer Series

SOMERSET HOUSE SUMMER SERIES

Top live music in a beautiful Georgian courtyard in central London? It can only be Somerset House’s legendary summer gigs. This year’s headliners include epic pop act Bastille, R&B queen Kelis, Glaswegian synth-pop heroes Chvrches and violin-pop group Clean Bandit, the group behind the massive ‘Rather Be’ single that topped the charts throughout January.

Tune Yards

 TUNE-YARDS

Quirky is a word that gets thrown around a lot in music journalism these days, but it sure is appropriate to describe the screwball alt pop of US musician Merrill Garbus, who mixes Micachu and The Shapes-ish riffs with live vocal looping, Afrobeat, psych-folk and more. Her Village Underground show in May sold out straight away, so get on this one fast.

Fucked Up

 FUCKED UP

Always blistering and uninhibited, the progressive post-hardcore crew from Toronto preview their upcoming album ‘Glass Boys’. The new songs should be just as cultish, noisy and thrillingly subversive as their old stuff.

Alex Clare

 ALEX CLARE

What a glorious change of fortune. Having been hyped to the hills but with little chart success, blue-eyed soul singer Alex Clare moved to Israel in 2012 and gave up the biz. It was only then that his track ‘Too Close’ was featured on a worldwide Microsoft advert, leading to a renewal of interest in the singer. He’s since worked with Rudimental and Kelis and is preparing a second album. Catch him live here as he stages a proper comeback.

THE BIG REUNION: THE BOY BAND TOUR

So, you like boy bands, eh? Well, have all the boy bands in the world! Okay, not quite – but there’s more than enough on this packed reunion bill to satisfy even the biggest fan of hunky, heartfelt men crooning on bar stools: Blue, Five, 911, Damage, 3T and ITV supergroup 5th Story (Gareth Gates, Dane Bowers etc).
