Peckopoly: south London gets turned into a video game at Arcade Peckham

Arcade Peckham, video game still.

Ever feel like you’re living in a video game? Well a group of Peckham-based cool cat creatives called ‘The Art Assassins’ did, so they collaborated with artist Ben Washington to make their own arcade game, ‘Peckopoly’, based on their south London experiences. Following three months of hard graft, the group made up of 14-20 year-olds designed a digital environment replicating their own neighbourhood for everyone to play with. The game launches today (March 21) in the group’s DIY space called Arcade Peckham, a former warehouse near Peckham Rye Station. As well as unveiling the new game, they’ll also showcase a new soundscape from artist Christopher M Smith, inspired by iconic soundtracks from video games of the past. Admission is free and members of The Art Assassins will be on hand for all game chat.

Opening times: Friday March 21, 6pm-8pm; Saturday March 22 -Sunday March 23, noon-6pm. Unit 9C, CIP 133 Copeland Road, Peckham, SE15 3SN
