If it weren’t for Cyclechic there’d be a lot of folk cycling around town with cushions taped to their heads and carrier bags hanging off their handlebars. The website has been helping people ride in style since 2008 with its range of fashionable cycling accessories. Founder and director Caz Nicklin has just written ‘The Girls’ Bicycle Handbook’ that tells you everything you need to know about life on two wheels. We asked her to tell us her five secret London spots. Jude Brosnan

‘I love this spot because it is so pretty and quaint, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. It’s great for a bike ride, stopping at the Bull pub, getting a river-side seat and dipping your feet in the water (when the tide is high) while you sup your beer.’

‘The second Look Mum No Hands! cycling café on Mare Street is a short cycle from our Cyclechic office and we regularly hang out here.  It’s a lovely space with a great buzzy atmosphere. We like it so much we have even hired it for the launch party for my book!’

‘Sod Westfield! I would much rather spend an afternoon wondering through Shepherd’s Bush Market. It sells everything from fake flowers and live fish to falafel and when you come out of the market there is cluster of great material shops. I can easily lose hours perusing all the wonderful rolls of colourful fabrics… shame I can’t sew!’

Saigon Saigon

‘I love the little stretch of Vietnamese restaurants between Chiswick and Hammersmith. There are a few good ones but Saigon Saigon is my fave. The food is amazing and in the summer the front of the restaurant opens onto the street and it makes me feel like I’m on holiday.’

‘Small, quirky London pubs are my very favourite places. My boyfriend found his way to my heart by taking me to this one on a date. It’s an old London boozer with a hint of French bistro and has a resident cat who wears a Victorian collar. A good tip is to go on a Saturday when the city types have cleared town.’

Join Caz in celebrating the launch of ‘The Girls’ Bicycle Handbook’ and try on the new range of Bern helmets on April 3, 6.30pm at Look Mum No Hands East, 125-127 Mare Street, E8. See the Facebook event page for more details.
