Bedknobs, broomsticks and (pillow) battles at The Angela Lansbury Film Festival

Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Angela Lansbury

Places it is not OK to spend a Saturday afternoon pretending to be a kid again: playgrounds (you won’t fit on the swings anyway), city farms (adults trying to catch chickens cause distress for all involved), Pizza Hut (the ice cream factory is no longer for you. Sorry). Places it will be totally OK and totally fun pretending to be a kid again this Saturday afternoon: The Angela Lansbury Film Festival in Poplar.

She who wrote murder and has starred in more than 50 feature films has her very own celebration, and Dame Angela herself will be there this Saturday (April 5) to introduce a free screening of the magical, ridiculous Disney classic ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’. If you haven’t seen it, you want to – it’s pretty much an even-more-bonkers ‘Mary Poppins’. Big kids who are feeling fidgety by the end of the film can then burn off some energy at the Chrisp Street Pillow Fight (2pm), but soft pillows only, please, or it will all end in tears.
