It may be a cold, rainy day in London but there’s one surefire sign that spring is here: the new season of ‘Game Of Thrones’. After a long, tedious ten months, three tantalising teaser trailers, more speculation than you care to recount and the threat of all of your smug friends who have read the books spouting spoilers, season four finally hits your TV at 2am on Monday April 7.
After the shocking and somewhat traumatic end of season three, there’s no surprise that this is the most highly anticipated return of a TV show since, well, maybe ‘Sherlock’, and that people around the world will be tuning in to see what HBO’s epic fantasy has in store for us this year. I managed to have a sneak peak of the first few episodes and I can safely say, this season is a corker! I don’t want to say too much and risk spoiling it for everyone but you can expect all the usual twists, turns, gruesome battles and gratuitous nudity along with some new characters and the obligatory deaths. So, to get you in the mood, here are some of the emotions you can expect to go through while watching tonight’s episode as told by ‘Game Of Thrones’ gifs. Enjoy! Carly-Ann Clements
You may feel tired and have to fight the urge to sleep but WAKE UP! It’s almost 2am.
Now, try to contain yourself.
You don’t want to seem like a crazy person.
Who are we kidding? Get as excited as you want.
Because it’s been a while and it’s all gotten a bit emosh up in here.
But it’s fine now, because the gang’s back together.
But, shush, it’s time to concentrate.
And get your game face on.
Because it’s about to start.
And in no particular order to avoid spoilers, here are some of the thought processes and feels you can look forward to experiencing while watching today’s episode:
Who the hell are you?
What happened to square face?
Oh, is that the new square face?
Yup, yup. He’s a completely different man this season.
Now that we have that cleared up, isn’t that what’s-her-face from ‘Luther’?
And, come on, who can really believe that’s Jerome Flynn?!
Anyway, back to the story…
Unsurprisingly, you’ll want to slap Joffrey.
No, more than that.
No, seriously – you’ll want to give him a proper kicking.
You should know by now, but if you watch with your parents, there may be a few… awkward moments.
And speaking of awkward, you might feel a bit sorry for Jamie.
But not for long, because your favourite characters will finally get some of the recognition they deserve.
We won’t say who…
There will be laughter.
You will proper lol.
But there will also be disgust.
Some Daenerys love.
A few tears.
Some gratuitous violence.
Along with questionable food.
There’ll be a whisper of concern.
But mainly false pity.
With a hint of eye-roll.
There will be some confusion.
And a lot of questions.
Like, is winter really coming?
It’s been four years now.
And why do people still not really care about these dudes?
I mean, look at them.
And when are the bloody dragons going to play a major role?
But most of all, there will be anticipation and impatience.
Because a wedding is coming, and you know how much Westeros loves a wedding.
So sit back, relax and keep your eyes peeled because season four promises to be one hell of a ride.
They’re leading with the ‘All Men Must Die’ slogan after all…
