Buzzing Dalston gets more bee-friendly with new exhibition

The smell of summer is trying hard to waft through our windows, along with a healthy host of insects and creepy crawlies set to bite away the pleasures of short sleeves and sandals. But instead of hating hard on all minibeasts, the guys at Bootstrap Bees are celebrating the life of our favourite little stingers (as well as marking the anniversary of their own beehive in Dalston) with an exhibition all about the bee.

Keep your Eye on the Doughnut will bring together some fine London creatives who’ve been inspired by the insects, including prop maker Fred Butler and photographer Dan Wilton. With an art auction this Friday to launch the exhibition, as well as live illustration, nail painting and a performance by Hackney-based ladies’ choir Deep Throat, this sounds like sweet nectar for both the eyes and ears.

The exhibition runs from April 10-17 at the Printhouse Gallery in Dalston and all money raised will help fund future activities of the Bootstrap Bees.

For more information visit the Keep Your Eye on the Doughnut Facebook event.
