This weekend Arnold Circus bandstand will be transformed from an East End dodgy dealings hotspot into the latest venue for Bandstand Busking’s musical offerings. Since 2008, the company has been shaking up unused bandstands across London, swapping traditional brass bands for emerging talent and providing a much needed platform for unsigned artists. Previous gigs have seen the likes of Frightened Rabbit, Johnny Flynn, Wild Beasts and Emmy the Great perform, so we have high hopes for this next set. And the best news? It’s all free!
Taking the stage on Sunday are Leeds-based band Sky Larkin, who are warming up for their UK tour, as well as Diane Cluck, a US folk singer who’s previously played with Kimya Dawson, Devendra Banhart and Jeffrey Lewis. Last up is North Dakotan folk singer and storyteller, Tom Brosseau who’ll be playing some of his latest stuff. Hopefully the sun that’s forecast will also make an appearance.
The music starts at midday on Sunday April 13. Find out more on the Bandstand Busking Facebook page.
