Everyone knows that bears love BBQs, right? You didn’t know? Here’s the proof: clubland’s favourite furry DJ dons The 2 Bears (AKA Joe Goddard of synth-pop act Hot Chip and London DJ veteran Raf Rundell) are hosting daytime pre-parties for two of their residency dates at east London club XOYO (after a storming residency sesh from Eats Everything kicked things off in January), involving BBQing a lot of meat way up high on the rooftop of Dalston Roof Park. The Bears and various DJ pals will be spinning party-starting tunes while punters (hopefully) soak up the sun – and remember to bring your own girthy piece of meat to whack onto the grill, so that some lucky soul can devour it later on (we’re allowed one BBQ double entendre, right?).
As day turns to night, the party moves from Dalston Roof Park to inside XOYO, where The 2 Bears will be spinning party bangers alongside other top-notch DJs. On June 7 The Bears’ XOYO session will feature the best-dressed man in techno, Andrew Weatherall, and glittery disco virtuoso The Emperor Machine, while on June 14 you can catch party-starting crew Greco-Roman Soundsystem and UK garage ace Wookie.
The two BBQ-based daytime roof parties begin at 3pm, and tickets cost £16, which includes entrance to the evening fun in XOYO, beginning at 9pm when the rooftop shindig shuts down.
