What’s so important about April 23? It’s the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth, of course, and to celebrate the V&A has devised a rather tempting culinary competition. The museum wants people to design, make and decorate a cake inspired by the Bard himself, his greatest work or even his theatrical legacy. We suggest you dust off those pipping bags and get working on your Midsummer Night’s Cream ASAP as there’s a pretty sweet prize up for grabs too.

If you upload your photo via Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #Cakespeare, you could be in with a chance of winning a weekend for two in Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as tickets to a play by the Royal Shakespeare Company. Here’s hoping you’ll come up with something a little tastier than the concoction made by the Weird Sisters in Macbeth – no baboon’s blood or poisoned entrails, please. Stephanie Hartman

Sift through the best entrants on the V&A’s Pinterest board and get your photos in by May 4 to be in with a chance of winning. Find out more about the competition at vam.ac.uk
