London’s latest scoop: Pop-up arty ice cream parlour hits N1

Hunt & Darton

An ice-cool collaboration between the National Trust and Hunt & Darton Café will be popping up at London’s oldest ice cream factory on Thursday April 24. Dressed to the nines in tropical attire, Hunt & Darton will be serving up a selection of chilly treats at Gatti’s Ice House, and they’ve added some seriously interesting flavours to the mix. Artists including Brian Lobel and Richard Layzell have been invited to invent their own ice cream flavours, including a very questionable broccoli and crispy pig skin variety. If you’re feeling a little less adventurous, coke floats will be on the menu too.

It all sounds rather mysterious but we’ve been told to expect a night of performance, playful participation and a possible resurrection of Carlo Gatti himself; the man we have to thank for bringing ice cream to the London masses way back when. Bring on the raspberry ripple! Stephanie Hartman

Hunt & Darton Café is at Carlo Gatti’s Ice House, The Canal Museum, on Thursday April 24 2014 at 7pm.
