Flamingo Pier takes its first float in Hackney Wick

Flamingo Pier

It must nearly be summer as the pop-ups are springing into life once again – some old faves, some fresh blood. A new addition for 2014 is Flamingo Pier which is docking by the canal-side Counter Cafe in Hackney Wick tonight for the first of its monthly floating parties. This pumping pontoon promises to be a totally tropical experience, complete with palm trees, neon lights and ‘Drowned Flamingo’ cocktails (presumably named after how you’ll feel the the morning after drinking these). To soak up your deadly cocktails and Crate craft beer, there’ll be a rosta of chefs with Adam Crickett, aka the Bearded Clam, first up to take the reins tonight. The soundtrack will be provided by guest DJ Arveene. All sounds dreamy to us. Only problem is that there’s a 200 person capacity so get down there early to bag a spot on board the barge.

FYI it might be Club Tropicana but drinks aren’t free and it’s £3 on the door. Find out more about Flamingo Pier.
