You’ve probably got a tube map app on your phone these days and rarely stop by a station to pick up one of the old school paper versions. But we recommend you swing by your local ticket office after May 16 and pick up the latest version, complete with lovely new cover art from Turner Prize-winning artist Rachel Whiteread. ‘The Hole of London’ (see what she did there) is the twentieth Art on the Underground commission and marks ten years of the project. With a print run of over 12 million, amazingly these are probably some of the most widely viewed artworks in the world! Since the whole thing began in 2004, it has included work by Richard Long, Paul Noble, Emma Kay, Cornelia Parker, David Shrigley, Jeremy Deller, Liam Gillick, Gary Hume, Mark Wallinger, Pae White, Yinka Shonibare, Tracy Emin and Sarah Morris. And yes, we’re a sucker for a creatively manipulated tube map.
