‘I’ll have a grande caffè latte, an orange mocha frappuccino and a discussion of mortality, please.’ You can order the first two in most coffee shops, but what if you’re after an in-depth chat about shuffling off this mortal coil? You won’t find that in Starbucks. What you need is a ‘death café’, a social group which aims to get more people talking about dying it and handling bereavement. As part of Dying Matters Awareness Week (until Sunday May 18), a number of them will be popping up in venues all over the capital. So you can offload all your woes over a steaming cup of joe.
