The Museum House of Death! Taxidermist Charlie Tuesday Gates takes over Waterloo Vaults

Charlie Tuesday Gates

When the not so friendly neighbourhood foxes screech late at night you might be forgiven for wanting them stuffed, but taxidermy artist Charlie Tuesday Gates has made her name from it. Gates, a vegan, might shun the label ‘taxidermist’ but her latest exhibition ‘The Museum House of Death!’, which runs from May 21-June 21, looks set to be a grizzly but captivating selection of stuffed animals in some super surreal situations.

Fans of fellow taxidermy artist Polly Morgan will be especially pleased as Gates aims to transport you into a ‘fantasy underworld where beauty and death collide’. Gates even tries to breathe some life into the taxidermy former-foxes with her provocative performance piece ‘Sing for your life!’, musical ventriloquism with, yep, you guessed it, stuffed animals. They say: ‘A cross between The X Factor and Pet Rescue’. We say: At least they won’t die from embarrassment. Alexandra Gerrity
