Open-air cinema is not all about drinking too much rosé and screaming Ron Burgundy lines at a giant screen. Floating Cinema started as an Olympic project. Now the 60ft-long barge is a regular on London’s canals over summer. An artist duo is in charge, so the programme has an art-meets-film feel, with floating tours, talks, music and workshops. This year, their theme is Extra-International, exploring migration and international waterways, with over 40 events. We like the look of dusk tours of the canal, food journalist Richard Johnson’s tour of street food and Open Air Weekenders – four-day pop-ups each exploring a corner of the world. It’s all super eclectic and thoughtful, and the booking is open now.
