Make some noise at London’s first ever hip hop silent disco

For The Love of Mic

We’ve all heard of silent discos. We’ve heard of hip hop nights. But a hip hop silent disco? Bring. It. On! From the brains behind super-fun good-time rap party For The Love Of Mic, this night promises two separate channels of Hip Hop, R&B, garage and more, beamed direct to your headphones so that ‘you can two-step to Ciara while your mate makes some noise to the Beastie Boys’.

If you’ve been to a silent disco before, you know the drill: expect sing-a-longs a plenty and lots of frantic channel switching to make sure you’re not missing any bangers. DJs include Time Out’s own music and nightlife editor, Oliver Keens and Louis Louis, music editor of Breaks magazine. According to their blurb, this is both ‘the cheapest silent disco in London’ and ‘an event that’s more exciting than sharing a lift with Solange Knowles’. The latter of which, frankly, we’d LOVE to see.

London’s First Hip Hop Silent Disco is on Fri May 30. Tickets cost £10. Concrete, 56 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6JJ. 9pm-2am. Get your tickets from wegottickets.com and find out more from the For The Love of Mic Facebook page.
