Since the time of Hogarth, Londoners have been celebrating and commiserating with glasses of ‘mother’s ruin’. But if you fancy yourself a more discerning kind of gin drinker, check out online spirit merchant the Gin Foundry’s Junipalooza, a connoisseurs’ festival in Shoreditch from June 6-8.

There will be tastings and the chance for visitors to make their own gins. Gin Lane it won’t be, though, as only small free tipples are included in the £20 ticket price. There’ll also be a paying bar selling the event’s selection of 40 gins. A great taster for World Gin Day on June 14 (mark it on your calendars now, people). Factory 7, 13 Hearn St, EC2A 3LS.

Buy tickets on the door or at ginfoundry.com. £20 adv, £30 on the door. Jun 6-8, noon-6pm. Why not have a look at the Thinking Drinkers’ top seven gin spotsOr down some Dutch courage at the London Dungeon Gin Palace.
