When someone refers to ‘ex-pats’, you may imagine an English couple sunning themselves in Spain. You’re less likely to picture a Cornish lad living in central London. But new monthly night Wrecker’s Wednesday celebrates the Cornish national minority status and is designed to unite all of London’s Cornish ex-pats, and anyone else who fancies joining in too. Attendees can get proper wrecked on ‘cyder’ and Cornish ale and then soak it all up with a hot ‘hoggan’, which is a pasty to us non-Cornish speakers. There will be live music, a Cornish quiz and mass singing of traditional songs.

It’s all happening downstairs at the Sun & 13 Cantons, 21 Great Pulteney St,W1F 9NG. 7pm-late on Wed June 4. And it’s free entry! Find out more at sunand13cantons.co.uk.
