In ten days, some of the coolest people in music will begin to descend on the Southbank Centre for James Lavelle’s Meltdown festival. Mo’Wax label boss Lavelle joins a line of Meltdown curators that includes David Bowie, John Peel and Jarvis Cocker. He’s done his predecessors proud with this year’s eclectic and forward-thinking line-up, which includes giants of electronic music alongside modern rock legends, orchestral and jazz events, punk bands and singer-songwriters.
Some of this year’s biggest Meltdown shows have already sold out, but we’ve got an exclusive ticket offer so that Time Out readers can still book for the festival’s biggest names. That means that you could see Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Joshua Homme performing a solo acoustic set, legendary master of the decks DJ Harvey rocking the London Wonderground Spiegeltent, or Lavelle’s UNKLE collective opening the series in the Royal Festival Hall.
Other sold-out shows include beautifully sad singer-songwriter Keaton Henson, indie songwriting legend Edwyn Collins, electro pop queen Neneh Cherry and a screening with live soundtrack of Jonathan Glazer’s film ‘Under the Skin’, starring Scarlett Johansson.
To book for these events, or any other Meltdown show this year, call 0844 847 9910 or visit the Southbank Centre Ticket Office in person and quote ‘Time Out’. This offer applies to just ten tickets for each event, so hurry! Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis until midnight on Mon Jun 9. There is a £2.75 transaction fee for telephone bookings.
