It’s back. On Saturday June 7, the second annual London Wine Sessions event will be happening at the Apiary on Hackney Road. It’s a day-long festival of talks and tastings aimed at both the trade and anyone who is interested in a trying a drop (or two).
Every talk includes a tasting, allowing you to sample unusual grape varieties, wines from emerging regions, and learn about new trends. You can either buy tickets to talks, all costing £20 (apart from Food Matching at £40), or just come down to the bar any time during the afternoon or evening.
We like the sound of a talk on ‘the unlovables’ – wines and grapes you thought were naff – with Michael Sager-Wilde, Charlie Young from Vinoteca, and Courtney Stebbings from Lyle’s; plus there’ll be pop-up bars from Quality Chop House, Passione Vino and Noble Fine Liquor. Music will be by Daniel of the Clove Club, and we are promised ‘Radical Food Matching’ with Matthew Young of Mayfields restaurant and Skye Gyngell’s sommelier, Jack Lewens.
Oh and here’s London’s best wine courses.
