There was a time when ‘ready-to-drink cocktails’ was a dirty set of words in the drinks industry, bringing to mind sickly bottled alcopops and gin in a tin. But these days, pre-bottled cocktails are a big deal in London’s best bars – and now you can pick up a few to take home. A range of pre-made drinks from Hoxton’s groundbreaking White Lyan bar go on sale in Selfridges this week, and they’re a far cry from the Moscow Mules of old. The Rainy Day Spritz, for example, is made with a rhubarb distillate, vermouth and rhubarb liqueur, and is designed to be mixed with the likes of prosecco or drunk neat; the Bonfire Old Fashioned contains White Lyan’s own Scotch, smoky lapsang tea and homemade cola bitters. They come in 50cl bottles to share.
