If the thought of going into the West End on a weekend fills you with fear, you may be happy to know that instead of hectic traffic, every Sunday this July Regent Street will become a car- and bus-free zone, replacing beeping horns with cheering and live music at a month of free street parties.

Each week has its own theme – last week’s was a garden party, this week it’s all about food. Fashion is the focus on July 20, then Magnum takes over on their 25th birthday (July 27) to give out free ice cream (we’ve penned this one in our diaries).

There will be 60 food stalls today so if you plan on checking them all out before you decide which to go with you’d better give yourself plenty of time. When you’re too full to move, you can sit yourself down on one of the vintage deck chairs and enjoy people-watching without the fear of being squashed by a bus. Entertainment comes from the West End Kids, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ finalists Jive Aces and City Academy.

Get ready for some dancing in the street.
