There are countless reasons to get excited about Notting Hill Carnival and now you’ve got one more with the news that UK dance royalty Basement Jaxx will be headlining the Red Bull Music Academy Sound System at this year’s event, on Monday August 25.

The duo aren’t afraid of using carnival rhythms to set off their colourful house bangers, so this should be a rowdy party, particularly as their new album, ‘Junto’, drops on the same day.

Hoofing out the tunes alongside the Jaxx are a fine cast of bassbin botherers, including dub duo Protoje & Yaardcore, trap act Tropkillaz, dancehall dude MC Clapper Priest and Notting Hill Carnival stalwarts The Heatwave.

Tickets to the Red Bull Music Academy Sound System – which you can find at Under the Westway, Corner of Portobello and Acklam Road, W10 – are free but allocated through a ballot, which you can enter from Monday August 11 until Friday August 15 at Red Bull’s Notting Hill Carnival site.
