If you’ve got photography skills to pay the bills (or at least earn you a few Instagram likes), you should definitely consider entering this year’s British Life Photography Awards.
Open to both pro photographers and up-and-coming amateurs, the competition celebrates all aspects of British life – from the fashion on our streets to the landscape of our cities and countryside.
Categories include Rural Life, Portraiture and Best Documentary Feature. Plus, there’s Urban Life (focusing on snaps of architecture, city life and the meshing of old and new), Pop Culture (looking at photos that capture our obsessions and trends) and Street Life (celebrating the best candid snaps of people living their lives). There’s also a Young Photographer of the Year Award.
All the winning and commended entries will be exhibited across the UK in March 2015 and printed in a special photography book published by ilex Press. (Suggestion – leave this open on your coffee table when trying to impress the in-laws.)
Plus, the overall winner aka 2014’s British Life Photographer will scoop up £6,000 of Sony goodies. This year’s first prize includes a Sony X9 4K 55” Television, A7S Full Frame Camera and Zeiss FE 24-70 lens.
You’ve got from now until September 20 to enter, making the competition the perfect summer project. Get snapping!
