Don your thick-rimmed glasses and button up your shirt as tomorrow (August 21) Nerd Nite London will be teaching you how to salvage civilisation after a super flu has wiped out half of the world, and equip you with the best ways to survive a zombie apocalypse. Nerds unite for a gorgeously geeky evening – the future of the planet needs you!
Nerd Nite is a monthly occurrence that invites geeks of all persuasions to gather around and discuss interesting topics while the rest of us average folk sit around with a beer and attempt to soak up some mind-blowing knowledge. This week’s event is a super special evening with four expert speakers divulging amazing facts about viral pandemics and exploding suns.
Nerd number one is Nathaniel Storey, who’ll be telling us all how to prepare ourselves for the next viral super flu. Number two is Dr Jen Gupta who will freak you out with unavoidable astronomical events that will mean the end of humanity (don’t worry, it’s four billion years off!). Nerd three, Dr Lewis Dartnell will equip you with the crucial knowledge needed to rebuild the world after a nuclear war, viral pandemic, or asteroid impact (so, you know, another lighthearted topic). Finally nerd four, Stuart Barr, will entertain ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Walking Dead’ fans with the best way to survive when zombies take over.
In addition to feeling positively immortal and genuinely ready to face the world, as an extra boost to your morale you will also be donating to charity as all profits from the night will be going to Cancer Research UK.
£6, August 21, 8pm, Mother Bar, 333 Old St, London EC1V 9LE.
