Ever fancied pacing through Marylebone looking sharp in Benedict Cumberbatch’s ‘Sherlock’ suit? How about jogging around the park in a pair of Elton’s running shoes – they’re silver and made by Gucci, naturally. Or what about doing the DIY wearing a hard hat endorsed by Bob the Builder? If so, grab your credit card and prepare to have your online productivity disappear down the drain, as the Anno’s Africa Celebrity Auction is coming to eBay.
An impressive range of celebrities have gone all ‘Cash in the Attic’ and rooted through their archives to dig out a treasure trove of clothes, scripts, costumes, props and artwork. From September 4-14, you’ll be able to bid on items from the 54 lots in aid of a worthy cause – all proceeds will go to Anno’s Africa, who offer educational arts projects for Aids orphans and vulnerable children in the slums of Nairobi.
Here’s what we’ll be bidding on…
Benedict Cumberbatch’s suit
The ‘Sherlock’ star has donated his personal suit, especially made by the programme’s tailors, Spencer Hart. Want to wear it yourself? Spencer Hart will re-fit the jacket and trousers free of charge. Be prepared to click until you have RSI – you’ll have to fight off Benedict’s rabid army of Cumberbitches.
Lana Del Rey’s vintage dress
The queen of monotone crooning offers up an appropriately ethereal piece from her recent tour wardrobe – an original ’70s baby-doll dress, with a pale blue floral print and lace detailing. It’s what vintage shopping dreams are made of.
Jane Birkin’s Birkin bag
Bid high enough and Birkin’s Birkin could become your Birkin. The result of a chance encounter between the actress and Hermès’ chief executive, it’s one of the most recognisable (and desirable) pieces in fashion history – the waiting list is legendarily long and exclusive.
The full listings of all 54 lots can be found here.
