‘Where can I eat on the South Bank?’ is one of those questions that Time Out get asked all the time. Our advice is to give the many chain restaurants a swerve, and try some of the more individual offerings. For a few more weeks you can encounter the Real Food Market behind the Southbank Centre, with stalls such as Horn OK Please. Or you can go swanky at Skylon, if you have very deep pockets. But now there’s a great newcomer in the mid to upper price range, for those occasions when you want to treat someone: House, at the National Theatre. Lots of white linen, equally crisp service, good and imaginative cooking, and – importantly – they get you out the door in time for performances.
