Weekends are short, precious things, all too often snaffled up by bills, rail replacement buses and other such tedious things. To redress the balance, get yourself down to Sunday Papers Live at the beautiful Cecil Sharp House this weekend for some 100 percent quality, Grade-A downtime.
The idea is simple – slouch yourself down on a big comfy sofa with a pint and some carbs while pre-eminent journalists, thinkers and other assorted clever folk fill your brain with fascinating talks, debates, poetry performances and so on, all interspersed with live music, meat, fresh air and Scrabble.
The line-up for this week’s event includes Scottish journalist James Millar and The Guardian’s Zoe Williams leading a discussion on Scottish independence, a beatboxing masterclass from Bellatrix and an appearance from author Simon Singh, who’ll be delving into the hidden mathematical theories of ‘The Simpsons’.
It’s £33 for the day, plus £18 if you want to join in with the long-table roast led by chef Tom Hunt (which you definitely do – trust us). Head this way to buy tickets.
Sunday Papers Live, Sunday Sep 14, from midday. Cecil Sharp House, NW1 7AY.
