Returning to Trafalgar Square for the third year running, the Japanese Matsuri (‘festival’) on Saturday September 27 promises plenty to excite your taste buds. The various street food stalls will be serving up donburi (rice bowl dishes), yakitori (Japanese-style grilled chicken), okonomiyaki (savoury pancake) and yakisoba noodles; or if you’ve got a sweet tooth, check out the rice cakes from Minamoto Kitchoan.

While you’re munching, watch taiko percussion and festival dance performances, or burn off some of those calories with Radio Taiso (radio exercise) famed for their interactive TV and radio shows in Japan. Whether you’re working out or pigging out, this is a great opportunity to try a little bit of Japan in the heart of the city.

Trafalgar Square, WC2N 5DN. Find out more at japanmatsuri.com Sat Sep 27, 11am-9pm. Free.
