Hold on to your velvet seats, theatre fans, because London is about to become even more thesp-tastic. The Theatre Royal Stratford East is hoping to open a new space in east London’s aptly named Theatre Square. The Red Crate will sit opposite the Theatre Royal and will be there for ten years if the £4.5 million funding target is reached. The 220-seat eco-auditorium is a sister building to the National Theatre’s similarly rouge temporary South Bank space. And it should make Stratford even more of a destination for people who love to get ruffed up.

Take a look at the top ten theatre openings this month.
