Unless you have the willpower of a buddhist monk and choose porridge over a fry-up when you go out for breakfast, chances are you probably make your own porridge. It’s a highly subjective breakfast. Milk, water or cream? Sweet or savoury? Fruit, nuts, chocolate, maple syrup, Nutella, etc? Stove or microwave? The options are endless. So can one person really be said to make the best porridge in the city? Rude Health seems to think so. This Friday from 9-10am it’s hosting the London Porridge Championships, wherein 12 Londoners will fight to be crowned King or Queen of the oats. Nick Barnard of Rude Health (who also happens to be World Speciality Porridge Champion 2013) will be judging the competition and you too can go down for a taste and to put your wooden spoon into the debate.
Friday October 10, 9-10am, Bedford House, 69-79 Fulham High Street Street, SW6 3JW. Find out more at rudehealth.com.
