Giddy up! Horse tries to board bus near Hyde Park

Posted at 8:00 am, October 10, 2014 in News

No, we’re not trying to foal you and we’re certainly not horsing around – a radio journalist filmed himself trying to board a bus with two equine companions earlier this week, after being challenged by Boris Johnson.

The London Mayor was doing a radio interview with LBC when he was asked whether pets (and more specifically horses) could ride buses. He replied: ‘I don’t see why not. Horses used to pull buses after all, you should see what happens if you try and take your horse on a bus.’

LBC senior reporter Tom Swarbick took on the dare – attempting to get on a bus at Hyde Park with two horses Barry and Upham. Despite explaining to the bus driver that he had BoJo’s permission, he wasn’t allowed on board. Official transport guidelines state that ‘dogs and other inoffensive animals’ are allowed on buses, but they have to be on a lead.
