Put down that Pret wrap and exit that Excel spreadsheet: here’s four adventurous things to do in your lunch hour this week.
1. Enjoy Gourmet Burger Kitchen’s opera
Fancy a lunch with a side order of culture? Head for a GBK in Waterloo between 1pm and 2pm every day this week and you’ll be treated to a 15 minute performance from Secret Opera.
2. Listen to Jessie Ware’s new album
‘Tough Love’ came out last week and is now available on Spotify. Full of ballad-acious deliciousness, it’s the perfect dinner party soundtrack – and, therefore, a great way to upgrade your lunch. Cook yourself a fancy feast, plug in your headphones and pretend you’re dining with friends (even if you’re eating at your desk). Read our interview with the singer too for maximum Ware points.
3. Find out who Gabrielle Enthoven is
Head to the V&A’s Lydia & Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre on Wednesday for a lunchtime lecture on the life of 1910s theatre collector Gabrielle Enthoven. Gabrielle campaigned for theatre to have its own section in British museums and donated 80,000 playbills, engravings, photographs, manuscripts and books to the V&A in 1924. The talk’s free and starts at 1pm.
4. See a free Tracey Emin exhibition
An free exhibition of Emin’s nudes called ‘The Last Great Adventure Is You’ is being shown at White Cube in Bermondey until November 16. We said: “It feels switched-on, newly ambitious and challenging. An adventure worth embarking on – and following.”
