Bonfire Night falls midweek this year so we’re entering an extended explosive period. Here are three of the best early displays.
Advance booking is required for Ally Pally’s display (7.30pm), set against a panoramic backdrop of the capital. Tickets cover entrance to an adult funfair and a street food and craft beer village, plus a family zone with entertainment and more funfair rides. Alexandra Palace, Alexandra Palace Way, N22 7AY. Sat Nov 1, 3pm-11pm. £8, £5.50 children.
This is one of a diminishing number of major London displays that’s still free to attend. Lewisham Council welcomes donations towards the costs of running the event and there’s a collection on the night or you can donate online. The pyrotechnic display kicks off at 8pm and there’s a funfair from 4pm plus food and drink stalls from 6pm. Blackheath, Shooters Hill Rd, SE3 0TY. Sat Nov 1, from 4pm. Free.
Once the bonfire’s lit at Vauxhall’s pyrotechnic party (pictured), the crowd will be treated to ‘A Tale to Raise the Spirits’, a rock opera with song, dance, fireworks and fire performers. Food and mulled wine will be on sale all evening. Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, SE11 5HY. Fri Oct 31, 6pm-10pm. Free.
