You know how you can draw pictures using running apps? We’ve all seen the cock pics, but a former Royal Marine commando has used his to create a much more meaningful sketch.

Ben McBean ran 31 miles around the city to create an image of a giant poppy to help raise money for the Royal British Legion. The organisation helped him when he lost his left arm and right leg in an explosion in Afghanistan in 2008. Ben’s encouraging fundraisers to follow his running route and to donate to the charity. He says: ‘The run was both physically and emotionally exhausting, but so rewarding.’

The Vodafone Foundation have promised to match every pound donated to McBean’s cause, up to £100,000.
