NORTH
ST PANCRAS GRAND WHISKY BAR

This Searcys bar stocks around 100 whiskies, from £5.75 a dram: relax before boarding. Upper Concourse, St Pancras International, N1C 4QL.

SOUTH
BRITANNIA

This Borough local offers 130-odd varieties and good advice if you don’t know Glengoyne from Glencadam. Most drams are £5-£10 per 50ml. 44 Kipling St, SE1 3RU.

EAST
BOISDALE OF CANARY WHARF

The third Boisdale whisky shrine, with the usual huge list. Some prices induce panic but many don’t, and there’s live music six nights a week. Cabot Place, E14 4QT.

WEST
SALT WHISKY BAR & DINING ROOM

Indian food and 200-plus whiskies, mostly Scottish. The classy, dark room is a sanctuary from the gaudy brightness of Edgware Road. 82 Seymour St, W2 2JB.

CENTRAL
WHISKY BAR AT THE ATHENAEUM

This smart hotel cradles a plush bar stocked with over 300 whiskies – and surprisingly low starting prices. A haven for quiet contemplation in Mayfair. 116 Piccadilly, W1J 7BJ.
