Is there anything Joanna Lumley can’t do? Now she’s getting permission to build bridges! The 1,214-foot pedestrian Garden Bridge – five linked gardens spanning the Thames – that she and Thomas Heatherwick proposed moved one step closer to becoming reality last week when Lambeth Council granted planning permission for the leafy crossing. They’ve already raised £110 million of the £175m needed to construct the thing, but at the rate they’re going, we’re pretty much taking its completion as a given. Well, would you bet against Lady Lumley? We certainly wouldn’t.
