It’s like those dreams where you’re walking down the street and you see a 20 quid note fluttering around in a bush and when you go and pick it up you spot another one a few feet away and then there’s a whole Hansel and Gretel-style path of cash laid out for your giddy enjoyment. Only this time it’s real.

Anyone wandering along Archway Road in Highgate in the early hours of this morning must have had to rub their sleepy eyes to check if they were dreaming, when they stumbled upon a load of money left scattered across the road. No, it’s not free help guy or that random Twitter account that handed out free cash back in June. It was actually the aftermath of a robbery that took place at around 4.20am in a post office in North London. Thieves appear to have broken into the building and then torn the cashpoint away from the wall, before escaping the scene and leaving some of the cash on the road. Police are investigating as we type.

Witnesses reported seeing the money, and presumably then walked away from it empty-handed because they’re sensible, law-abiding citizens. What would you do if you stumbled across a path of cash? Tell us on Facebook or Twitter.
