Wild tales and tango treats at the Argentine Film Festival

wild tales

Britain’s diplomatic relationship with Argentina may have been slightly strained this year, but what better way to heal those rifts than with four days of great movies, free-flowing wine and saucy dancing? The Argentine Film Festival kicks off this Thursday November 27 and continues over the weekend at both the Ritzy and Hackney Picturehouses, offering a strong selection of recent blockbusters from the South American nation, plus a handful of smaller titles.

Our top pick is opening gala film ‘Wild Tales‘, a portmanteau comedy that wowed the critics at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Our own Geoff Andrew described it as ‘brilliant’. Elsewhere in the programme we find award-winning road movie ‘Natural Sciences’, Scorsese-produced coming-of-age tale ‘The Third Side of the River’ and (guilty pleasure alert!) 1980s-set ‘erotic thriller’ ‘Death in Buenos Aires’. There’s also a special selection of Argentine wines on offer at the Hackney bar and tango performances between screenings, so stick a rose in your teeth and march on down…

See argentinefilmfestival.co.uk for more information. And remember to check timeout.com/film every week for loads more film pop-ups in London.
