It’s been a pretty flipping huge week for live music announcements. Great news, but make sure you initiate Phase Two (that’s booking tickets) at 9am tomorrow morning when the great shows below go on sale. And don’t worry if you aren’t tempted by what we’ve highlighted, as there are loads more great gig and concert options waiting to be found on our ‘Just announced‘ page.
Koko, Feb 3
After breaking into the charts and our hearts with their synthpop stormers ‘In For the Kill’ and ‘Bulletproof’, London duo La Roux all but vanished for a good few years. Now La Roux is back, down one band member (it’s just luminous singer Elly Jackson this time) but up one simply incredible second album, ‘Trouble in Paradise’. Grab this chance to see a modern-day pop icon live and on top form.
Wembley Stadium, Jul 10
The carrot-topped chart maestro hits London, mixing up loop-pedalled acoustica, hip hop beats and out-and-out pop balladry for a swooning, shrieking audience. His tearjerking single ‘The A-Team’ catapulted him into the mainstream, his chart-busting 2011 debut album ‘+’ has kept him lodged there, and the Rick Rubin follow-up ‘X’ (‘multiply’) has made him an inescapable force on both sides of the Atlantic. As a result, he’s gone from playing the kind of pubs and basements where you’d rightfully expect to find a scruffily dressed acoustic singer-songwriter to two 90,000-capacity Wembley shows. The mind just boggles, doesn’t it?

Roundhouse Feb 21
Brooklyn-based genre-busters TVOTR bring their delightfully eclectic and fiercely intelligent strain of experimental indie to London for a very welcome show at the Roundhouse. Expect tracks from latest album ‘Seeds’ (including enjoyable single ‘Happy Idiot’) as well as plenty of older favourites, stretching right back to their still-impressive debut studio album, ‘Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes’, released in 2004.
O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Mar 24
It’s pronounced ‘Kaiser’, and it’s the stage name of Canadian singer-songwriter Kiesa Rae Ellestad, a former navy codebreaker and Miss Universe Canada contestant who’s now turned her hand to infectious house-pop. You’ve probably heard her debut single ‘Hideaway’ (a Number One here) – now catch her live as she continues to ascend that slippery slope to superstardom.
Roundhouse, Feb 12
It takes a lot to get us to flutter our eyelashes at a city other than wonderful London, but recently we’ve been tempted to floozy around with a different metropolitan area: Gorgon City. Okay, it’s not actually a place, it’s production duo Kye Gibbon and Matt Robson-Scott – making some of the sharpest, most on-point club music around. But it’s not just clubbers who are digging Gorgon City’s take on house music. Working as producers for big-draw crossover acts like Clean Bandit and Klaxons has opened up their music to a huge pop audience. They even bowled straight into the UK Singles Chart at Number Four with the soulful ‘Ready For Your Love’, featuring house vocalist and songwriter MNEK. You can hear the duo break out the beats and basslines when they headline a huge show here, with a crew of special guests in tow. Take a trip to Gorgon City now: it’s this year’s city break of choice.
