Residents of Finchley, Acton and Ruislip – make sure you lock up tight tonight, for you live in the most burgled boroughs in the city.
According to research by RAC Home Insurance, the months of August, September and October saw 243 break-ins each in the London boroughs of Barnet and Ealing, with Hillingdon close behind with 235 residential burglaries reported. Enfield and Brent are also popular hunting ground for stripy-jumpered crooks, clocking up 215 and 202 incidents respectively.
On the flip side, it’s good news for those living in Kensington and Chelsea – just 55 burglaries were reported during the same three-month period (presumably because you spent all your money on a flat in the city’s most expensive borough and therefore have nothing else worth stealing). The southern extremities of London also seem to be relatively low on burglars’ hit lists, with just 62 incidents reported in Bexley, 65 in Kingston upon Thames, 69 in Richmond and 78 in Sutton.
Here’s how the rest of London’s boroughs stack up:
Waltham Forest 161
Barking and Dagenham 111
Tower Hamlets 84
Hammersmith and Fulham 80
Richmond upon Thames 69
Kingston upon Thames 65
Kensington and Chelsea 55
