Grab some paper and scissors and get crafting; this is your chance to contribute to London’s longest paper chain, which aims to stretch the same length as the Millennium Bridge (that’s 325 metres!).

Get Connected (the confidential helpline for people under 25) have organised the Christmas Chain Challenge to raise funds for their admirable services helping young people. The massive chain will be inscribed with supportive messages for young people across the country and those close to you.

The idea is to build your own section of the paper chain, fill it with heartfelt messages and donate to Get Connected. It starts today (December 2) and runs until December 25, and you’ll have the chance to physically add to the paper chain at Spitalfields Market on Sunday December 7.

A bit crap at craft? Here’s a handy video showing you how to build your own paper chain and take part.

You can even take part without leaving your warm, comfy, mince pie-filled home by tweeting photos with #GClinks or posting on the Facebook page. Get Connected will then add the length in metres to the total and share your personal messages.

For more info and chain templates head over to getconnected.org.uk. Donate here.
