Exmouth Market is hosting a Christmas Celebration tonight (Wednesday December 3) and it’s a little bit swanky – this is Islington after all.

So, rather than the usual mince pies and tat for your tree, shop and restaurant owners are putting out artisan morsels for you to sample and buy. That means pop-up stalls from superlative tapas bar Morito, meaty modern British restaurant Medcalf and coffee supremos Caravan, among others, plus festive drag queens handing out free slices from the Great British Pizza Company.

Everything will be suitably twinkly, with extra sparkle provided by the local church choir singing carols (yeah, it’s a bit early for that, be we won’t begrudge them) and a Santa’s Grotto for kids at lovely, crafty shop In With the Old. All businesses will be open into the evening, with discounts for early Christmas shoppers. Festivities start at 5pm and continue until late.

It’s a proper eat, drink and be merry situation, in other words.
