Destiny’s Child reimagined at the Lips choir Christmas concert

LIPS Choir

Blame ‘Glee’ or Gareth Malone if you like, but you can’t deny that choirs are hot stuff right now. You won’t catch Lips – an all-female choir based in Islington – tackling Handel, though. Instead they’ve got a cracking repertoire of pop, soul and disco tunes that has taken them to the main stage at festivals including Bestival and Wilderness.

The choir’s Christmas show in Marylebone, ‘Step Into Lipsmas’, is a joint fundraiser for the choir and Women Asylum Seekers Together – and it’s going to be way better than your office Christmas party. Lips promise to ‘sing the crap out of you’, and there’ll also be cocktails and craft beer, homemade food and a photobooth. Unlike your boss on the karaoke, they can really sing – and if there’s anyone who can get a bunch of miserable Londoners warbling along to Destiny’s Child on a cold winter night, it’s Lips.

Lips perform at St Mary’s, Wyndham Place, Marylebone. Fri Dec 5 and Sat Dec 6. £12.50, £8 concs, plus optional £2.50 donation. Find out more here.
