Craftacular

So, mulled wine and felt ornaments aren’t edgy enough for you? Katie Rosseinsky suggests some indie markets and pop-ups offering fashion and gifts with a bit more attitude.

Bust Christmas Craftacular
It’s not just kids who can bring a tear to the eye with a wonky handmade gift – you’ll find plenty of opportunities to make your own presents under the watchful eye of an expert at this event. If you’re on the idle side, there’s also plenty of pre-made stuff to buy, too, like jewellery, art prints and taxidermy. Islington Metal Works, 7 Torrens St, EC1V 1NQ. Angel. Sun Dec 14, noon-7pm. £3 entry.

Worried about showing up at the office party in the same Whistles frock as everyone else? London College of Fashion’s pop-up is your man. Oxford Circus. Thu Dec 11 to Dec 16. Mon-Wed, Fri, Sat 10am-7pm; Thu noon-8pm; Sun 11am-6pm. Free.

Shoreditch Christmas Triangle
Isosceles, equilateral, Shoreditch – these are a few of our favourite triangles. A shedload of the excellent stores in the three-sided hotbed of fashion and design around Old Street and the High Street are buddying up for a series of late-night openings, offering discounts and workshops on top of the obligatory mulled wine and mince pies. The Goodhood Store, House of Hackney, SCP and Ally Capellino are all on board. Old St. Dec 18, 6pm-9pm.

Shoreditch Xmas Boutique
If the thought of more gingerbread homes and faux-snow-sprayed wreaths is bringing out your darker side, try this style-focused fair as an antidote to market fatigue. With rails of clothes by independent designers, you’re bound to tick a couple of tricky customers off your gift list, and pick up something for yourself, too. At the very least you can get your nails done and avail yourself of the bar. The Gallery @ Forge & Co, 154 Shoreditch High St, E1 6HD. Shoreditch High St Overground. Sat Dec 13 and Sun Dec 14, noon-7pm.

Take a look at these great sample sales.
