If you cast your eye over our pick of the ten best bars of 2014, you’ll notice that the E2 postcode pops up no fewer than three times: Mission, Peg & Patriot, and Satan’s Whiskers have all been given a coveted stool at our 2014 bar of honour. And there could have been even more gongs for E2. The Sun Tavern is a beautifully refurbed boozer with a speciality in Irish spirits just a few minutes away from Bethnal Green tube. And Mother Kelly’s  sells craft beers and ciders from another of the railway arches that also house Mission. So, the question: why does Bethnal Green attract so many high-class start-up bars and pubs? Answers on a cocktail napkin, please.
