On your bike! Barclays Cycle Hire payments are being ‘simplified’ for 2015

Boris bike extension

Time to get down to your nearest docking station because as of January 2, the Barclays Cycle Hire charges will be simplified, so there really is no excuse. New year, new you and all that.

This year more than 1,000 new docking stations are popping up and the current, slightly complicated charge structure is being adapted to make it a simple £2 charge per 30 minutes after the initial free period. The usual daily £2 charge for bike access and yearly £90 charge for membership will remain the same but seven-day access will be withdrawn as of January 2.

As people have been getting a little confused with the current charges, the idea is to make the cycle hire system easier to understand and more appealing to potential users. So expect plenty more weaving tourists on the streets in 2015.

In other transport news, did you know that London’s getting over 500 extra buses?
