Brace yourselves: the self-driving car is on its way. From this month, transport solutions company TRL will be trialling the vehicles in Greenwich. They’ll be testing driverless shuttle buses and automated valet parking (neither of them on regular roads), plus a simulator which will let people experience a driverless trip around a 3D model of Greenwich. It’s all part of a government-funded test to see how people react to the vehicles. We’ll be the ones messing up the results by screaming: ‘Argh! That car is thinking for itself! Run for your lives!’
