Can you take over London armed only with pillows? That seems to be what the maverick team behind Pillow Cinema are doing, slowly but surely. London’s cosiest film concept has just announced another two weeks of screenings just as their initial January programme was about to finish, and after a stormingly successful initial run when the project appeared in November of last year.
As before, the films will be screened in what used to be Shoreditch Underground station, now converted into a seriously snug palace of kick-back. The latest set of screenings includes ‘Amelie’ (Jan 21), ‘Blue Jasmine’ (Jan 24), ‘The Dark Knight’ (Jan 29) and ‘Lost in Translation’ (Jan 31). For anyone unfamiliar to Pillow Cinema, the concept is nice and simple: take your pick from any of the cult and classic films on offer, rock up to the venue and make sure you bring a pillow (seriously – it’s no pillow, no entry, so don’t forget), lounge back on a bean bag (on your own if you want to stretch out, or with a pal/significant other if you want to get cosy), and enjoy the film. And don’t worry, you can even order drinks and snacks to be brought over, meaning you don’t have to leave your cocoon of comfort for a second – the perfect lazy antidote to the misery of January.
Screenings take place Jan 19-Feb 1. Find out more about Pillow Cinema and book tickets.
